So after 23 hours of traveling we finally made it to the Philippines!!! The 13 hr. plane ride over from Dallas to Tokyo was not bad at all and definitely didnt feel like 13 hrs. Our expectations for the Tokyo airport were not met, but we think it was because we were in the wrong terminal. But we did get to eat at a little noodle bar and view a few gift shops. Upon arriving to Manila we caught a very efficent and fast taxi and made our way through the CRAZY streets to our hotel. The Lotus Garden Hotel...where our room is quaint. We also got an upgrade from standard to delux! NICE. Breakfast was incluced and buffet style. We started off with rice, some sort of small fried fish, shrimp bisque soup (delicious) made from the heads of shrimp, a sauted veggie mixture of bean sprouts, carrots, green beans and such, pork nuggets, fresh fruit, coffee, and mini red weenies...it was quite tasty.
View from right outside a door near our hotel...Street of Ermita, Manila.
I still have to get used to taking pictures and documenting everything so sorry for the lack of photos, but as I get better at this blogging thing, I promise the photo documentation will improve as well.

Your father and I are extremely grateful that you two made it safely! If we live through this...we can live through anything! The view from the hotel was..ummm..well, let's just say different. Kinda reminded me of Taiwan. Breakfast sounded wonderful. Are you sure those "little fried fish" were actually fried?
ReplyDeleteYour Aunt Renee used to eat a similar dish of rice and little raw fish in Taiwan. Be just a bit cautious with the local cuisine but try everything!! Keep the pictures coming..who knows..it might inspire your father to take a trip (wink, wink). Love you two bunches. Take good care of each other.
P.S. Eli asks "Where Sara?" and "Where Rodney?"
